EIT

Do you have a child who can't stand tags in his clothes?
Is she a picky eater?
Is he constantly running into other kids and seems to never get enough of rough play?
Does she chew on everything?

Children like this are Sensory Sensitive Kids, or Highly Sensitive Kids. They are more sensitive to their environment, and may react to sight, sounds, smells, taste, textures, changes in balance and position, and movement. Stubborness or resistance to changes in balance, position, and movement signal vestibular or proprioceptive sensitivities.

Sensitive kids can be classified by their behavior- Sensory Seeking or Sensory Avoidant. They may seek out ways to stimulate their senses, or avoid stimulation altogether. Some kids are a combination of sensory seeking and sensory avoidant, and their behavior can change based on the amount of stimulation they get on a daily basis.
Kids with Autism, Aspergers, and ADHD often exhibit sensory sensitivity, as can kids without a diagnosis.
Sensory Kids often have imbalances in their energy fields, from trauma, their environment, stressors, allergens, toxins, or energetic factors. They have trouble modulating their energy field and maintaining a boundary with others. Their boundaries can be too weak or too rigid, depending on the type of sensitivities they have.
Kids with a weak energy boundary around their field are very sensitive to their environment, and are usually sensory avoidant. Kids with a very rigid, strong, or large boundary can be sensory seeking to discharge energy out of their field. Both of these types of kids can learn to balance and modulate their energy field so that they can function better at school, with friends, and at home.
