Reiki II

What is Reiki II? Reiki Two is the second level of Reiki. It's not simply a step up from the primary attunement that students get in Reiki One. An attunement is a ritual where a student is aligned with the Reiki Ray, or Divine Reiki energy. Attunement to Reiki One allows the student to use Reiki energy for self-care and for healing others, animals, and plants. Balancing your own energy daily has great mental and emotional benefits. Attunement to Reiki Two is another step up the Divine energy ladder, and allows the student to begin healing the mental and emotional energy bodies, which are part of our energy system. The mental and emotional bodies carry our memories and consciousness. Reiki Two opens a pathway for the student to heal old karma, heal their consciousness, and heal long-standing physical and spiritual issues. The added benefit of Reiki Two is distance healing. Students learn to send Reiki at a distance to others, learn to visualize the recipient, and attune to the ene...

Loving What Is

This is my path to the seashore. I'm at the beautiful beach in the Panhandle, spending time reconnecting with family. In the past year I have often said to myself, "what would life be like if I didn't feel like I needed a vacation from it all the time? What if I felt joy every day? What if I did the things I loved to do, every day? " I have often asked clients what it is that brings them joy. I work with people from all walks of life, meeting them where they are. Sometimes this means seeing an eating disorder, an addiction, or other ways of filling up that aren't healthy or productive. Our work together starts with finding other things that fill up the void that is created inside of us, from trauma, or pain, or life experiences that we can't control. Discovering what brings you joy, and doing that every day, is the key to a happy, peaceful life. My homework in Healing Touch classes was to practice yoga, meditate, journal, and sleep daily. These seem l...

What is Healing Touch?

My clients and friends know a lot about Reiki, but what about  Healing   Touch ?  Healing   Touch  is a form of Energy Therapy specifically designed for nurses who have worked in a hospital setting, home care, or clinic. It is a gentle, light energetic  touch  on or near the body that helps to balance mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. There are five class levels in the  Healing   Touch  Program. The first class introduces students to the energy field, and teaches techniques such as scudder and chakra connection, which align the chakras and release blocks from the energy field. The second class focuses on techniques that clear the spine and align the vertebral chakras. In the third level students are introduced to their spiritual guides and learn higher level esoterics and ways of clearing the upper layers of the field. Fourth level focuses on establishing a practice and business basics, as well as a full body connect...

Who's afraid of a Reiki Master?

When I first started my business there was a strange phrase that people kept saying to me; "Don't tell people you're a Reiki Master". I thought it was odd that different people kept coming to me with the same message, so I decided to investigate. I've always been interested in groupthink, or why people do what they do and believe what they believe. I've studied collective consciousness since I was young, and when my husband and I started moving around the country, it became more obvious how different communities functioned. When we lived in California, the prevailing mindset was very different than in New Orleans, where we're from. Progressive moves to South Carolina, Iowa, and Florida proved that each place had a certain feel to it. I had been traveling with my mom to different places since I was a kid, and the energy of places was something I was familiar with, but it wasn't until we lived in the places that other people traveled to, that I ...

EIT

Do you have a child who can't stand tags in his clothes?  Is she a picky eater?  Is he constantly running into other kids and seems to never get enough of rough play?  Does she chew on everything? Children like this are  Sensory Sensitive Kids , or Highly Sensitive Kids. They are more sensitive to their environment, and may react to sight, sounds, smells, taste, textures, changes in balance and position, and movement. Stubborness or resistance to changes in balance, position, and movement signal vestibular or proprioceptive sensitivities. Sensitive kids can be classified by their behavior- Sensory Seeking or Sensory Avoidant. They may seek out ways to stimulate their senses, or avoid stimulation altogether. Some kids are a combination of sensory seeking and sensory avoidant, and their behavior can change based on the amount of stimulation they get on a daily basis. Kids with Autism, Aspergers, and ADHD often exhibit sensory sensitivity, as can...

Business Secrets

What are the secrets of success? There are a few things I've learned along the way that I'd like to share. Your ideas are valid. My current business started with a seed idea in 2010. I knew I wanted to expand on what I was doing with friends, offering readings and distance healing, to in-person sessions. I didn't know how. I often put myself down for having this idea. My negative self-talk got the best of me and I put my ideas in a box. It took the validation of several friends, and then a business mentor, to change my mind. It's ok to be a beginner. No one wants to look like they don't know what they're doing. But what about when you don't? Asking for help is humbling, but is often an important step in the process of growing a new business. Seasoned business owners are often happy to share what it took them to get started, help brainstorm ways to expand, and encourage newbies. (And if they're not, find someone who is.) Know your market. My yoga journey

(..and why it matters) Yoga and Reiki seem to go hand in hand. A lot of Reiki Masters are yoga teachers and vice versa. After three years of immersion in the yoga world, I understand why. I have learned many things on the mat that have helped exponentially in my growth and development as a healer. I started yoga with Bikram. Yes, the yoga you do in a room heated to 101 degrees. We were living in the California desert at the time, so 101 didn't seem that hot. I learned poses, balancing, and how to bend my body much like I had in ballet. After we moved to South Carolina we kept up our Bikram practice, and then I transitioned to prenatal yoga when I got pregnant. It took me a long time to come back to the yoga room. I went back a few months after my daughter was born, but I took her with me, to mommy and baby yoga. After a few classes and a lot of distraction, I put my yoga practice on hold for a while, except for one class when my son was a baby which involved way too many hand...
